Nagoya

Nagoya Airport
[NKM/RJNA]

Nagoya Airfield, also known as Komaki Airport or Nagoya Airport. It was once an international airport, but is now a domestic secondary airport serving Nagoya while the current primary civil airport for Nagoya is Chūbu Centrair International Airport in Tokoname.
NB: The old IATA code of NGO is since 2005 inherited by the new Chūbu Centrair International Airport.

Osaka International Airport
[ITM/RJOO]

Osaka International Airport, often referred to as Itami Airport is the primary regional airport for the Kansai region of Japan, including the major cities of Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. Classified as a first class airport, it is the airport closest to Kyoto, 36 kilometres southwest of Kyoto Station.

Despite its "international" designation, the airport caters exclusively to domestic flights. Kansai International Airport took over the region's international traffic in 1994 and competes with Itami for domestic traffic.

Tokyo

Haneda International Airport
[HND/RJTT]

Tokyo International Airport, commonly known as Haneda Airport, Tokyo Haneda Airport, and Haneda International Airport, is one of two international airports serving the Greater Tokyo Area, the other one being Narita International Airport (NRT).

Haneda was the primary international airport serving Tokyo until 1978; from 1978 to 2010, Haneda handled almost all domestic flights to and from Tokyo as well as "scheduled charter" flights to a small number of major cities in East Asia, while Narita International Airport handled the vast majority of international flights.

In 2010, a dedicated International Terminal, current Terminal 3, was opened at Haneda in conjunction with the completion of a fourth runway, allowing long-haul flights during night-time hours. Haneda opened up to long-haul service during the daytime in March 2014.

The Japanese government is currently encouraging the use of Haneda for premium business routes and the use of Narita for leisure routes and by low-cost carriers.

Narita International Airport
[NRT/RJAA]

Narita International Airport, also known as Tokyo-Narita, formerly and originally known as New Tokyo International Airport. It is located approximately 60 kilometers east of central Tokyo in Narita, Chiba. The building of the airport caused a lot of protest, rather violently at times. Eventually the airport opened in 1978.

From 1978 to 2015, Narita Airport was the only airport in Japan where visitors were required to show ID upon entry, due to the tumultuous history of the airport's construction and the violent protests before, during, and after its opening
