Famgus Aviation Postcards
Pan American World Airways (Pan Am)

This page shows my collection of postcards from Pan American Airways (Pan Am).

Quoted from Wikipedia:

Pan American World Airways, commonly known as Pan Am, was the principal US international air carrier from the late 1920s until its collapse on December 4, 1991. Founded in 1927 as a scheduled air mail and passenger service operating between Florida (Key West, and later Miami) and Havana, Cuba, the airline became a major company credited with many innovations that shaped the international airline industry, including the widespread use of jet aircraft, jumbo jets, and computerized reservation systems. Identified by its blue globe logo (widely known as "the blue meatball") and the use of the word "Clipper" in aircraft names and call signs, the airline was a cultural icon of the 20th century and the unofficial flag carrier of the United States.

As for all my airlines pages it's structured in four areas:

The Fleet (26)

Crews & Passengers (5) | Destinations (4) | Miscellaneous (1)

Boeing B377 Stratocruiser
This was the first "big" landplane Pan American ordered. 20 Boeing 377 Stratocruisers were ordered on November 28, 1945. The first went into service at the San Francisco - Honolulu route on April 1st, 1949. Several other routes were followed and soon Stratocruiseres were seen all over Pan Am's network! After Pan Am's merger with American Overseas Airlines, the airline had a total of 28 aircrafts of this type. One of the real nice features of that aircraft was the lounge and bar at the lower deck.

Destinations

The Destination Postcards of Pan Am have been issued in at least two different styles.

One in linen style with a white boarder around the motive. A second one without white boarders on the front in litho printing.

For the time being I collect only the first series.
