NB: I still have several updates remaining. But the pages are "good enough" to be published!

This is the entry page to my Aviation Postcard Collection!

***

I started to collect postcards in 2004. The idea was to complement my genealogical research I do, seeking my ancestors.
The first aviation postcard soon followed, and with that my ambition to keep my collection small was gone!
Now I have 10.000+ postcards, mostly Swedish topology, but also quite a few related to aviation (as you have the opportunity to see).
I guess I fulfil the criteria for a collector?!

I do have a lifelong interest for Aviation. I have never had it as profession but already as a young boy I was looking for airplanes. We were fortunate to live right under one of the inflight routes to Bromma airport (Stockholm) in the 1950ies and 1960ies. Me and my younger brother used to count the airplanes we saw coming and leaving Bromma airport. At that time time I had no idea that aircrafts had registrations. We were happy if we could identify the planes as Metropolitan, DC-4, DC-6, DC-7 and Caravelle. The Caravelle was easy. My father flew quite often between Stockholm and Gothenburg with the Caravelle and we used to be up early these mornings to see the Caravelle rise to the sky in the far distant with a high roar.
Those were the days ...

Two teasers for you!

A list of the airlines found in my postcard collection.

A list of aircraft types found in my postcard collection.

Enjoy!
